A Second Chance
I was fortunate enough to have grown up with parents who taught me the value of money & the mentality you cannot have your cake and eat it too. I still live by this.
(John de Ridder – Finalist in Seven States of Change)
Sacrifice now for the greater good later.
So naturally I found myself in finance and as a financial planner for the big banks and I realised that I was only assisting people with money. Lots of it! I could also see that normal people were not given the same opportunities to create financial freedom and I wanted to give them that.
Focus your money was born so I could teach everyone the values I had been taught and bring about the freedom everyone deserves when it comes to life and their finances.
I had been working on my own for 8 years however with little success to truly drive the passion I had, because like most money people I didn’t know how to connect the emotions to attract the people I wanted to assist and I was good with $$ but not with Marketing.
When I saw Mia’s Seven States of Change competition I knew this was my opportunity to be mentored by someone who was already creating a community of social change makers and that If I could be aligned with this Challenge I definitely could see my Vision to reality.
I was nervous and excited!
Getting the news that I won was incredible! It meant being able to work Collaboratively with a team and being mentored by not only Mia but so many incredible Social Entrepreneurs that had already succeeded in changing people’s lives like I wanted to.
Winning not only impacts my life. Bringing my Vision to reality will impact as many people as I can reach which is so many more now I have this opportunity. And by teaching the skills to create a secure financial plan the roll on effect is huge!
I also found Kiva.com who is an organisation who cuts through the red tape and provide affordable and accessible lending to people with business ideas who otherwise would not be afforded those opportunities. I love supporting their cause and as my business grows I will increase my annual support. It fills me with pride and joy to see how I directly impact someone’s life by assisting them in making their own dreams become reality. Kiva lend the money, so when it comes back it gets lended to the next person. It teaches people responsibility the same as A second Chance is so is greatly aligned with my own vision.
I welcome you into our community for your second chance, you might even know someone who really needs ones! https://www.facebook.com/groups/A2ndChance/
